Product Description
The Cisco 7940 (CP-7940) is a state of the art Voice over IP telephone with advanced features
and rock solid stability which makes it ideal for a medium to high traffic office environment. The
Cisco 7940 is designed around the communication needs of today's professionals and includes a
large pixel based LCD display, full duplex speaker phone and an internal Cisco Ethernet switch.
The integrated two port Ethernet switch allows a computer the 7940 to be daisy chained, reducing
the amount of cabling and Ethernet ports needed for the office. The network administrator can use
separate VLAN's (802.1Q) for the computer and the phone providing improved quality of service and
reliability of voice and data traffic. The Cisco IP Phone 7940 is multi-protocol enabled
supporting Session Initiated Protocol (SIP), Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), as well as Cisco's
CallManager Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP).
The Cisco 7940 can be used with Power over Ethernet (PoE) to ease installation and reduce cabling. The adjustable foot stand allows the phone to move from flat to 60 degrees which provides optimum display viewing and comfortable use of all buttons and keys. The foot stand is also keyed to match standard wall jack configurations for wall mounting. The Cisco IP Phone 7940 is multi-protocol enabled supporting Session Initiated Protocol (SIP), Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), as well as Cisco's CallManager Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP).
A dedicated headset port eliminates the need for a separate amplifier when using a headset. This allows the handset to remain in its cradle, making headset use simpler. The Cisco IP phone's convenient volume control button provides for easy decibel-level adjustments for the speakerphone, handset, headset, and ringer. The handset in Haring Aid Compatible (HAC) and meets FCC loudness requirements for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Section 508 loudness requirements can be achieved using industry standard inline handset amplifiers such as Walker Equipment W-10 or CE-100 amplifiers.

A. The "G" in 7940G stands for Global, the 7940 G uses icons on the four soft

speaking users to recognize their function more easily. Cisco has discontinued
the production of the 7940 and only manufactures the 7940G now.
Q. What is the difference between the Cisco 7940 and the 7960?
A. The 7940 has two programmable line and feature buttons whereas the 7960
has six.

A. Nothing they are the same phone. The former is the actual Cisco model number
