The TDM400P is a base board that
supports FXS (green) and FXO (red) modules. The TDM400P commonly is used with the Open Source asterisk IP PBX (and variants) to connect to traditional, analog telecommunication equipment. Adding FXS or FXO modules to the TDM400P base board creates bundles and changes the model number in a structured way. For instance the TDM01B includes a TDM400P and one FXO module.
The TDM400P can have a maximum of 4 FXS and/or FXO modules.
An FXS interface connects an analog telephone or fax machine to asterisk.
An FXO interface connects asterisk to an analog telephone line provided by the telephone company; ex: AT&T.
