Description
The Rhino Ceros is a rack mountable hardware
platform that runs trixbox or asterisk IP PBX software. All of the hardware used
in the Rhino Ceros has been thoroughly tested with trixbox and asterisk.
Telephone systems are mission critical, when they do not perform at 100%
businesses suffer. Running trixbox or asterisk off of run of the mill personal
computers or even server grade systems is a gamble. When running asterisk under
load most motherboards begin performing poorly and call quality suffers.
Other factors such as air flow, memory, power supplies and network interface
cards can affect the performance of asterisk.
Manufacturers of PC and server platforms change things all of the time,
chipsets, integrated NIC's and power supplies. Sometimes they do not bother to
update the model number or revision number and those changes might affect the
way asterisk operates.

The Ceros chassis was designed with VARs in mind. The chassis comes
with no external markings or silkscreening, and comes shipped in two
cartons -- an outside carton that can be discarded so that a pristine,
inside carton can be cleanly shipped to your end customer.
