AC Powered
90 Watts Max Output Power
Serial, Web & SNMP Interfaces
Product Description
The Juice Box is SEI's midspan Power over Ethernet solution for VoIP, Wireless
Access Points, and other PoE applications. The Juice Box is fully compliant with
the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet standard and will also provide power to
many legacy devices. With the Juice Box there is no need to replace your
existing Ethernet infrastructure to realize the advantages of Power over
Ethernet.
Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) telephony allows the convergence of voice and data traffic
on a packet switched data network. Organizations implementing this technology
must provide QoS equivalent to that of traditional PBX and Centrex solutions.
This requires centralized power and battery backup for VoIP phone sets to guard
against the loss of AC power and the resulting loss of phone service. For a
technical discussion of this topic, see our white paper, VoIP Phoneset Power Via
the Ethernet. While not formally termed QoS, other Ethernet applications such as
wireless access points and security cameras also have high availability
requirements. SEI's Juice Box, coupled with a UPS, provides simple, centralized,
guaranteed power for VoIP phonesets and other Ethernet-based applications.
PoE allows power to be supplied to end devices, such as Wireless Access Points
or VoIP Phones, directly through the existing LAN cables. By supplying the power
mid-span, you can centralize power distribution and backup without the need to
increase infrastructure.

The Juice Box eliminates multiple cables to networking devices by injecting
power on the Ethernet cable. Installation costs as well as desktop and wall
clutter are significantly reduced. In addition to eliminating multiple cables,
the Juice Box allows centralized backup power for all connected devices.
Centralized UPS backup is less expensive, more reliable and easier to maintain
than individual UPS backup. The Juice Box can be supplied with backup power from
the existing Ethernet switch UPS or, to increase reliability, with its own
dedicated SEI supplied UPS.
With a full 12 ports of power for the cost 1/2 of a typical 12 port solution,
the Juice Box allows easy migration to IP-based telephony with no expansion
costs and without the replacement of expensive network infrastructure. The Juice
Box can either be supplied with battery backup using the UPS provided by the
existing Ethernet switch or to increase reliability, with its own dedicated SEI
supplied UPS or DC PowerBox.
