EnGenius 802.11ac 3-Stream Managed Wireless Indoor AP (EWS360AP)

The EWS360AP marks a new performance breakthrough for high performance Indoor Wireless Managed Access Points. Wireless users with 802.11ac laptops, tablets and other devices, who need to stream HD video or transfer files will find this powerful Access Point at an affordable price point and more than up to those tasks. The EWS360AP is an high-powered Dual Concurrent 802.11ac 3-Stream Managed Wireless Access Point with speeds up to 450 Mbps on its 2.4 GHz band and up to 1300 Mbps on its 5 GHz band that functions as part of an EnGenius Neutron Series Wireless Management Solution or as a stand-alone Access Point. It features a high transmit RF power of 28 dBm on both frequency bands which allows for its signal to penetrate walls, floors and ceilings with ease.

It can be configured as an Access Point or WDS (AP, Station, and Bridge) for customized deployment scenarios. The EWS360AP is designed to operate in a variety of multi-story building environments and demanding business applications, making its high-powered, long-range characteristics a cost-effective alternative to ordinary Access Points that don’t have the range and reach to connect to a growing number of wireless users who wish to connect to a network.

The EWS360AP can operate as a stand-alone Access Point connecting to PoE-capable switches but more control and versatile management of the Access Point is achievable when it is part of a Neutron Series Wireless Network Management Solution as the AP includes firmware that enables it to be immediately discovered, configured, monitored and managed from a compatible Neutron Series PoE+ Layer 2 Switch (EWS5912FP, EWS7928FP or EWS7952FP). This capability enables IT managers to deploy and manage up to 50 EWS360APs from a 24- or 48-port Neutron Series Switch allowing for simplified management from one browser-based interface including simultaneous firmware upgrades, clustering, traffic monitoring, bandwidth steering and many other features that can be reset or reconfigured from the convenience of the IT manager’s desktop.

Coupled with a compatible Neutron Series PoE+ Layer 2 Switch, the EWS360AP can be incorporated within a range of Wireless Management features such as the Map View feature, which lets IT managers drag and drop a marker representing a Neutron Series Access Point that has been registered to a Neutron Series Switch onto a building within a campus topology to show its relative. In addition, the Floor Plan View feature on an Neutron Series Switch lets scanned images of office or facility floor plans that have been saved as jpeg (.jpg) files be uploaded to the Switch interface so that IT managers can drag and drop Access Point markers from other Neutron Series Access Points to their approximate locations.

Using the EnGenius Device Discovery Tool lets the EWS360AP scan for local devices to connect to automatically, making additions of client devices to the network more convenient for employees or customers. Email alerts notify administrators when the EWS360AP’s configuration settings have been changed, which is especially useful when enacting Bulk Firmware upgrades or Access Point clusters. Once the Access Point has been configured, a set of diagnostic tools can be utilized for testing connection quality and other issues that may arise on the network.

Operating in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency spectrums and supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards the EWS360AP features wireless speeds up to 450 Mbps on its 2.4 GHz band and 1300 Mbps on its 5 GHz band, a Gigabit port for connecting to 802.3at-capable PoE Switches, and an enhanced receive sensitivity MIMO (Multiple In/Multiple Out) Sectorized 3D antenna design. As a result, the EWS360AP is ideal for spacious environments such as large homes, small and medium-sized businesses, multiple-floor offices, hotels, hospitals, and other multi-floor buildings.

As the EWS360AP is designed for deployments on ceilings where power outlets may be scarce, it also comes equipped with PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) IEEE 802.3at for use with an 802.3at-capable PoE injector or 802.3at-capable PoE Switches, drawing up to 22 Watts of power.

The EWS360AP supports Fast Roaming for clients authenticated to a RADIUS server. This means that employees can be constantly connected to the network – whether they are warehouse workers scanning and capturing barcode information, employees on Wi-Fi phone calls while walking to meetings on another part of a corporate campus, healthcare professionals capturing patient information on mobile devices, or security personnel who need uninterrupted video surveillance on a mobile device when they are alerted to and making their way to the location of an incident.

For secure network configurations, the EWS360AP includes wireless encryption standards such as Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK) Encryption and IEEE 802.1X with RADIUS. MAC Address Filtering is also included allowing network administrators to allow or deny network access to clients devices (computers, tablet PCs, NAS, smartphones, etc.) according to their MAC addresses.

Paired with other Neutron Series Access Points and Switches, the robust EWS360AP helps to make setting up and managing a network easier with its standardized GUI. Units that have already been deployed on ceiling or other difficult to access locations and other EnGenius APs or Client Bridges in the network can be reconfigured to a different operational mode or upgraded remotely without having to manually reconnect to them or re-install them onsite from a Neutron Series Switch. With speeds up to 450 Mbps on its 2.4 GHz band and up to 1300 Mbps on its 5 GHz band, users are able to connect with legacy 802.11b/g adapters as well as the latest 802.11n adapters for faster multimedia streaming and performance, making it ideal for expanding to an existing wireless network such as startups, universities, retail environments, warehouses, and more.
